RHEL 6.0 Installation Hardware Requirements

 

1. CPU/Architecture Requirements

o It runs on X86_64 Architecture

o 64 bit Systems are required.

o Supporting CPU Architecture

Ø X86 (32-Bit)

Ø Intel/AMD64 (X86_64)

Ø IBM Power Architecture (64bit)

Ø IBM Systems Z Architecture

Command to check the architecture of the system

#uname –p

Note: If you find vmx for Intel and svm for AMD, under flags then it supports Hardware assisted Virtualization.

 

2. RAM Requirements:

Officially requires 512 MB RAM

Recommended 1GB RAM per system.

For VM’s running without GUI mode needs less than 512 MB RAM

On 32 bit system maximum RAM supported is 16GB

On 62 bit system maximum RAM supported is 2TB

 

3. Hard drive Requirements:

Supports PATA, SATA and SCSI

Supports attachments up to 31 different SCSI Hard drives.

Can configure 16 SATA Drives on Systems
